After spending over a decade working alongside some of the most respected trainers in National Hunt racing, including Nicky Henderson, Venetia Williams and Sam Thomas, I am delighted to be launching James Standen Racing ahead of the forthcoming National Hunt season.
During my career, I have also been fortunate to broaden my experience internationally, spending valuable time with Gai Waterhouse in Australia and Emmanuel Clayeux in France. Every trainer and every yard has offered a different perspective, helping me develop a well-rounded training philosophy that combines attention to detail, horsemanship and placing each horse where it has the best opportunity to succeed.
Based in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, our horses benefit from access to some of the finest training and schooling facilities. Combined with a calm, professional environment and a hands-on approach, every horse receives an individual training programme tailored to maximise its ability and enjoyment of racing.
Launching James Standen Racing is an exciting opportunity to build a stable founded on hard work, honesty and exceptional care for every horse. As a developing yard, my aim is to create a culture where horses thrive, owners feel genuinely involved, and success is built on strong foundations.
Communication is at the heart of everything we do. Whether you own a horse outright or as part of a syndicate, you’ll receive regular updates, opportunities to visit the yard, and the chance to enjoy every stage of your horse’s journey. My ambition is not only to train winners but also to build lasting relationships with owners by providing an enjoyable, transparent and rewarding ownership experience.
To launch the yard, I have carefully selected two experienced National Hunt horses with exciting campaigns ahead. Both have been purchased with the Veterans’ Chase Series in mind and possess the toughness, consistency and enthusiasm for racing that should provide owners with plenty of memorable days on the racecourse.
